Weekend Coffee Share 23/09/2017

So I heard that right, there was a knock on my door! I didn’t expect you to come an visit, really what a surprise! Come on in it’s so good to see you!

If we were having coffee on this very beautiful first official Saturday of Autumn then we would be sitting on the ground on nice fluffy sheep skins (sorry if you are vegan or a vegetarian then you can sit on the ground a chair) surrounded by stuffed animals. The ground is the safest place for the boy to be at the moment, and there is no sofa. Continue reading “Weekend Coffee Share 23/09/2017”

Weekend Coffee Share on a Birthday Weekend with a chat about books, blogging, friends and other things

If we were having coffee today (Saturday) then maybe we would have met up in the park this morning, it looks like rain now so I guess this afternoon you’d pay a visit to my humble home. If we’d decide to meet up tomorrow (Sunday) then you may join us for some birthday cake or on a Paris family outing (probably Palais Royal)… Continue reading “Weekend Coffee Share 19/08/2017”

Weekend Coffee Share 08/07/2017

If we were having coffee, then I would be so glad to have you over!

The past two Saturdays I had friends over (both where in my class in high school, which was 10, yes TEN years ago!!!), as no one is announced for today (maybe a friend will come tomorrow), and little one, errr should give her a different nickname is sleeping, I will do a coffee post.

It has been forever since I had coffee with you. Or maybe this is the first time you are stumbling onto my blog, or the first time you are reading a coffee share post here… Anyways it has been a while.

It is a beautiful day in Paris and I have no coffee to propose to you, but maybe a sparkling water, a grenadine? I have milk and still water too and if you are really into a hot beverage then maybe a tea, or a hot chocolate?

Now, if you are a regular reader of my blog, then you are probably wondering what I have been up to all these months. Or maybe you figured it out all by yourself. Continue reading “Weekend Coffee Share 08/07/2017”

Weekend Coffee Share 20th November 2016

Well it might be a bit late opportunity coffee now. But as not everyone is in my time zone you might enjoy a late night chat.

If we were having a very late chat, I’d tell you that I treated myself to a day off today. Lately I have been working 7 days per week and even though it’s between 1 hour and at the very most 6 (this rarely happens) a proper day off is a nice thing. After all it permits me to not talk or think too much.

If we were having coffee then I would ask you about your week, your weekend, your family, and all the things that might be of interest. I am realising that my on and well mostly off blogging has not altered my view of my blogging friends, to some of you I feel a deep connection. It’s a bit as if I have not written to pen pals, ah that reminds me of all the letters and emails that I should reply to, as well as all the emails, text messages and letters that I want to send. So yes blogging is sort of like writing letters, sometimes it flows and sometimes it doesn’t.

Sorry I am rambling!
If we were having coffee, then I’d ask you a very important question.

Would you like to participate in this year’s advent calendar? I am so exited about the many replies that have come in so far, and I am hoping for more contributors! To find out more please check out this post

If we were having coffee, then I would tell you that I am really longing to sleep, but Maus had a late and long nap that has altered all plans… Thus I will cut our chat short.

If you are celebrating Thanksgiving, have a happy one!

Weekend Coffee Share 12/11/2016

Oh my, how long has it been since I’ve had you over for a coffee share? I’d rather not check, because I know it has been ages. As I have mentioned in my last post I have been absent for blogging for a very long time. Reasons for that are of the most varied natures threat can exist. Anyone worried about me, there is no need. I am happy and keen to share news with you, but I like keeping some suspense so not today… if you are a “between the lines reader” like I am you might already know.
If we were having coffee I’d propose to make some hot chocolate with British organic milk bought at Marks and Sparks (I have not tried it yet). No, I haven’t moved, we just have everything British at a walking distance, so tonight we had backed beans, cheddar and marmite on our Parisian table.
If we were sipping our hot chocolates, then we would also be talking a bit of the US elections. I am sorry! On Wednesday I checked my phone and saw à WhatsApp message sent to my family that told me everything. I hope that after Brexit and now this populism won’t continue it’s rise. Sadly, I must admit that I was not surprised by the outcome, the Brexit referendum did do some foreshadowing.

Politics aside. How are you doing? Please excuse my lack of communication (which might continue due to my schedule).

Little one, from now on I will refer to her as “Maus” as she is very tall for her 2 years and 9 months, has started the Halte Garderie, which is a sort of daycare but she’ll only be there two afternoons per week at the most 8h per week (which will rarely happen due to my schedule), if she really enjoys it we can sign her up for at the most 16h. It’s state subsidised so we aren’t paying much, but it permits me to propose more hours to students who cannot come to my house (they are students through a language school). This week she had to go for a little while every day to get used to it. Friday was a public holiday so she’ll be back for 2 hours on Monday.

Since mid September my business has been taking off like never before. I have been working as a freelance teacher since March 2013. There has been a maternity leave, fewer hours due to childcare and spending time with my ill mother, but I must say it is true it takes 3 years for a freelance business to truly work. This year my students have been aged 7 to 66! I have now fully embraced Skype teaching with 3 regulars over that medium that I am confident that I can venture into other fields in the year to come.

If we were having coffee, then you would be shaking your head at the time, it’s 11pm here and i am having you over for a hot chocolate?! Yes! But that is Maus’ fault, I had one of those days with few students that I used to make some new documents (German grammar) and that I also wanted to really use for writing a coffee post. So yes now it’s time for you to head over to Diana’s blog for her post and those of the other contributors.

Wait, before you close the door, I will be hosting an ADVENT CALENDAR this December and if all goes well tomorrow a call for participation will come up. It was such a great experience last year and I said that I would do it again. I just have to write up that one post to tell you what I have in mind this time around. I am hoping for 24 contributors…

(Please excuse spelling mistakes and wonky formatting, I am on my phone…, I will fix things later, add links etc.)

Let’s meet where the kids play!

If we were having coffee today then I’d propose that you’d join little one and myself at the playground near my home. I hope you are well prepared, sunscreen, sunglasses, maybe a hat. If you don’t mind we are drinking water lots of that. I would suddenly produce some fresh fruit, nectarines and flat peaches (donut peaches) and would listen to you pour out your heart.

If we were together in the playground, then we’d try desperately to find shade after being present for less than 5 minutes. We would gratefully congratulate ourselves on the forethought of bringing water along. Continue reading “Let’s meet where the kids play!”

If we were having coffee – 28 May 2016

If we were having coffee, then we would be having tea (there are many varieties to choose from). Or you could have some water or milk or even soy milk.

If we were having our weekend drinks then I would ask you if you wanted some vanilla ice cream with that, maybe with some pecans? You might know that I have a love for Vanilla, which pushed me to read and review an amazing book.

If we were having coffee, then you might be asking how I have been, which is understandable seen my blogging silence and the last post I put up. I am shingles free now, my skin is still of a different shade where the rash was, and I am lucky the pain is mostly gone. It does hurt at times when I don’t drink enough water. So my advice for anyone having shingles is: drink a lot of water! Hydration is the key to avoid horrible pain. Little one’s chickenpox appeared two weeks ago, now her scars are all healing. Weekend Coffee Share – 23 April 2016

Solveig's MugIf we were having coffee then we would be having tea. I am currently drinking some Puh Er, but I can make you a Oolong (either from Taiwan or China) or a white tea, or a black or green one (these three are from China) if you wish. I can completely understand if you aren’t a fan of it’s rather agressive side. If we were having coffee tea, then we’d be snaking on strawberries, apples, prunes and grapes as well as some other fruit. We would be trying to stay quiet as little on is sleeping in the other room and she is very much in need of sleep (I think she is having another growth spurt).
