A to Z Challenge 2016

This year, I participated for the 2nd time in the A to Z Challenge. Some letters were tough, for others the word I wrote about appeared in my head days, or even weeks before I wrote the post in question.

Last year I had thought that for this year’s challenge I would be well prepared in advance to have plenty of time to visit blogs and write comments. But very quickly after last year’s challenge ended many things in my life changed and planning a long time ahead was not really an option anymore. So when it was time to reveal my theme I opted for authenticity. I also imposed myself the rule to write in alphabetical order and not in zigzag, that I would write about the word for the letter that would come into my head and not try to find one that would please my readers. Z is for Zoned-Out #AtoZChallenge

Z is for Zoned-Out

Last night I zoned-out again. I was sitting on the carpet no longer completely present, no longer completely realising what was going on around me. S called me back to what was going on.

I  think that zoning-out is something that happens, to everyone. It happens mostly at the end of a long day, during a stressful time, or when there is too much to overcome. Maybe it is our mind that needs a break of a few seconds from everything, as it is a moment without thought. Continue reading “Z is for Zoned-Out #AtoZChallenge”

V is for V #AtoZChallenge

V is for V

When I speak English I have a very strange accent. A mixture of American and British English depending on the words spoken and the people I talk to.

When I moved to France and came back to the USA to visit a year later, everyone said that I had a British accent, I really don’t think that I did, it was just different than what I had before leaving. When I moved to England a few years later most people said that I had an American accent, except for my very French pronunciation of “oops” and “Hermes”. Continue reading “V is for V #AtoZChallenge”

T is for Teaching #AtoZChallenge

T is for Teaching

My favourite T word was already used last year. Seen that I am not in time with this post, I am a bit late, I did realise that many people did write about time too. You might enjoy this post in relation to time

I have no idea when I first started to be drawn to teaching. Every time that I had a good teacher I enjoyed their lessons and absorbed everything like a sponge. They showed me that teaching is not only a job, that it is a “calling”, that it can be done with passion, and that you can always learn something new in the process. They taught me not only what they were meant to teach, no they taught me more, often times to go further.  Continue reading “T is for Teaching #AtoZChallenge”

S is for Secret #AtoZChallenge

S is for Secret

Many many years ago, our next door neighbour came to see my mother to share a secret with her. I found my conversation with my mum interrupted so that our neighbour could share what weighed her heart. She said that it would be better if I left the room, because she was going to share a secret with my mom. I did not want to leave, this was not a good friend of my mother’s, my mother was good friends with her girlfriend. For some reason my mom did not think that it was necessary for me to leave either, she did not join in on our neighbour’s request. Of course I would have left the adults alone if I had been asked by my mother, but I surely would have eavesdropped from the top of the stairs…  Continue reading “S is for Secret #AtoZChallenge”

R is for Rainbow #AtoZChallenge

R is for Rainbow

Rainbows When water and sun meet we are lucky to see a rainbow. When in the biblical story of Noah’s arch the rainbow is seen, it is interpreted as a sign of hope, a sign that it will not be raining forever.

When I see a rainbow, I make everyone around me look at it too! It is just too magical to be missed out on.

I recall the little rainbows that formed when I was playing with the water coming out of the garden hose. What a discovery! I started to understand how rainbows are made. Continue reading “R is for Rainbow #AtoZChallenge”
