It is the 25th of November! And you know that means that in a month from now you’ll be stuffed with nice food, will have gift wrap torn to pieces all over the place (or neatly folded in a corner of the room), you’ll have piles of books and toys and things you have no use for and don’t much like either piling up in your living room (or maybe not as people know your tastes).
But for now, we are not there yet. Those who celebrated Thanksgiving feeling a bit rounder after the endless feasting (definitely not fasting) over the weekend. Wallets are lighter after Black Friday sales, which have come to countries where before no one knew this event. Last year still there were only a few shops that had BF offers, this year almost every business was participating. On the Champs Elysee, the Christmas Decorations were turned on on Thursday (only to be mistreated in yesterday’s protests, more on that soon…).
Well not quite yet. But in two months it will be Christmas. In two months from now, you’ll be sitting quite full next to a big pile of presents, not quite recalling who gifted you what and not knowing what you are going to do with all that stuff… Or maybe you are feasting with your loved ones, helping in a soup kitchen or you are trying to hide from all this Christmas cheer by travelling to a non-Christian country. Maybe you are skiing or slurping cocktails on a beach. Maybe you won’t even be realising that it is Christmas, or you might already trying to figure out how to sweeten your wait till the next one.
Speaking of sweetening the wait until Christmas, I have a big, very big announcement to make.
Be part of the 3rd edition of multi-contributor Advent Calendar!
Christmas is coming! No, this won’t be a post about how Christmas products are arriving on the shelves way too early, they are in my mind… I know we haven’t passed Halloween yet, but it is time that I make the big announcement EVERYONE has been waiting for since the 24th of December 2016… Continue reading “Advent, Advent 2017!”
Welcome to my first coffee post of 2016! What would you like? Some tea (as always there is a huge choice of teas and origins), water, apple juice, milk? I am sorry my great aunt’s Christmas cookies are so good that they are all gone, but I have great pomegranates from Turkey, they are huge and really really good.
