Yesterday, #Brexit didn’t happen

Yesterday, the 29th of March 2019, the United Kingdom was meant to leave the European Union. But as we all know, this hasn’t happened yet. The likelihood of the UK crashing out of the EU is growing by the minute.

And with #Brexit being a total mess, the post-Brexit dystopia Who Shot Tony Blair? by Lucy Brazier is feeling more and more like a likely reality. Ok, I feel sorry for those who have to endure the sight of both Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage naked, something they are a bit much. Funny in the book but in a likely distant future?

Lucy Wastell has been appointed Prime Minister of Cambridge through a lottery system. She isn’t fit to govern, but nor seems to be King Boris of Oxford. The UK has in the years after Brexit been dismantled into quite the opposite of a union. On a side note, be careful Brexiters don’t have the leaving of one union (EU) lead the disintegration of another one (UK).

The PM, mostly referred to as Lucy has a brilliant plan, she wants to make peace with Oxford and reunite the UK with Cambridge as its capital (of course). In order to achieve this improbable mission, her government has a useful pawn, Tony Blair.

Just as things seemed to be going more than well they come across his body.

I could not help myself laughing out loud a few times while reading this book. Who shot Tony Blair? reads a bit like a play, and I would love to see it adapted in the theatre, I am just not sure that the spectators will be too keen on admiring Farage’s spray-tanned legs.

The book for sure doesn’t lack surprises. From murder to sex, to drugs, to dirty little secrets and to way too much home-made gin and some politics it is a great read.

  1. Hmmm, I’ll have to look around Amazon to see if I can find the book as it sounds interesting. Of course I’ll probably believe the book at non-fiction since I’m over here in the U.S.A. The real Brexit definitely sounds like a crazy situation as I wonder why Britain would want to leave the European Union. Thanks for the fun review of WHO SHOT TONY BLAIR?
