Christmas Away From Home

By Katharina Barten

A year ago I was in Canada living with a host family and I was experiencing some Christmas traditions that we don’t have here or at least that I don’t practice.

One of them was baking a gingerbread house. I had never done that before but I got to say that I really enjoyed it. Another thing that I wasn’t used to was all the decorating of the exterior of the house but I also liked that a lot. These are just some things I remember and I must say I kind of miss my Canadian Christmas but I am very happy to spend it here in Germany this year spending Christmas our way because that’s what I grew up with

Although not fully “The Reason for the Season”, making and revisiting these kind of memories are certainly part of the the reason. Cheers!
