Attention: Fairies, gnomes, dwarfs, and other magical creatures lurking everywhere
Austrian Adventures
I am a bit short for words when it comes to writing about what I want to share with you today. Maybe it is just best that you see for yourself…
With my mother and my daughter I went on a child friendly hike, not like the last one I described here. I do think that this is is one of my favourite hiking trails ever! Of course there is distance, of course there is altitude, of course there are risks. But there is above all beauty, beauty, and beauty everywhere.
Down in the valley, in the Zillertal, to be precise it was raining, the clouds were hanging low, but here in the Märzengrund, there was a bit of sun here and there. And how was I happy once we finally came across some water to drink (I was so thirsty I drank the water running down the mountain) and then there were the wild blueberries here and there to give us some extra sugar to keep on going.
The Märzengrund hike for us did not end on a summit, no our goal was to reach the Gemünd Alm, where you get the world’s best Kaiserschmarren. What is Kaiserschmarren you might ask? It is a sort of messed up pancake with a lot of icing sugar, served with a sour jam made of lingon berry a cranberry like fruit (it does not at all grow like cranberries though).
In total with the break we must have walked for 6 hours. I do walk a lot, but generally not six hours per day, how would I find time to blog?
I hope you enjoy all of those magical pictures I took on this hike.

A walk in the countryside never fails to please, and even better when you have a camera in your hand.

I made sure to think of taking pictures. Nature has so much beauty that we city dwellers tend to forget.

Sounds a great walk – I hope the “messed up pancakes” refreshed you. They sound delicious.

They were definitely what I needed at that point. I might post a recipe one day, but they won’t be as tasty as they were there.

I love the attention to detail of plants and mushrooms. Mushroom photos are some of my favorite things, I find mushrooms beautiful and unique.

Thanks. I have some more mushroom photos coming soonish (I have to write the post that comes with it) but today there will be cauliflower pictures that are quite pretty too (at least in my opinion).
