2016 might be over, but…

2016 might be over, but…

I would like to give a little update on the year’s stats. First the last quarter of 2016 and then the year’s overview.

4rd Quarter (October, November, December) Blog Performance

Between October 1st and December 31st this blog was viewed a total of 2802 times! Thank you! That gives a monthly average of 934 views.

October 2016

In October my blog received a total of 212 views, and only one post was published: I came out of my shell a while ago, but …

It has been a while – 2nd and 3rd Quarter of 2016 in Blogging Stats

It has been a while – 2nd and 3rd Quarter of 2016 in Blogging Stats

Last year in October I posted my first real stats report, on the 3rd Quarter of 2015. Then there was the end of year report which included the 4th Quarter of 2015 as well as a yearly overview. So far for this year I only put up one report, the one regarding the 1st Quarter. It was meant to continue being a regular feature, but life happens, and I did not blog all that much.

Mostly for future reference, and as I want to leave 2016 in 2016, here is a detailed report of the 2nd and 3rd Quarter of Blogging! The 4th Quarter and a global report for 2016 will follow once this year has come to a close.  Continue reading “It has been a while – 2nd and 3rd Quarter of 2016 in Blogging Stats”

Blogging or the Lack Thereof in the 1st Quater of 2016

Blogging or the Lack Thereof in the 1st Quater of 2016

BloggingNow, that it is April, it is time for another one of my stats posts. I like to do these on a quarterly basis, to look at my blogs progression, not too much to compare myself to others, no, to compare my blog to itself.

With the Advent Calendar in December 2015, last year finished on a high note stats wise, you can read more on it here. I had a total of 2 189 views (it says 2188 in the post, so I guess the stats page was not 100% up to date back then) for December, my blog has since then not had so many monthly views… But the year is still young, and as I had been on quite a long blogging break, due to my mom’s bad health and passing away. Here you can have an idea of how my posting suddenly changed: Continue reading “Blogging or the Lack Thereof in the 1st Quater of 2016”

Youthful 2016

Blogging2016 is already 19 days old, quite young if it is compared to my own age of 10 014 days. Still out of those 19 days I managed to miss 4 days in posting on my blog, but on one of those missed days I had a guest appearance elsewhere! Yesterday, I was a guest on Melanie Noell Bernard’s blog to share my New Year’s resolutions. If you go over there you’ll find a few of my resolutions for this still very young year. I tried to provide a not too boring selection of goals for this year, hopefully you will be smiling about them.

Here you can find my guest post. After that please have a look around the other contributions to her series, and make sure you have a look around Melanie’s blog too. I had her as a guest for the advent calendar, maybe you missed her post?

A List Of Smiles #WeeklySmile

pink roses I am a natural smiler. That means I smile all the time. When I was a teen living in the US, about to move to France, I was advised not to smile in public in Paris, that this would be dangerous for me. Well, it might be dangerous if you cast sexy smiles at strange men, but generally a smile will be greeted with a smile even in France.

Now, I live in Paris, and it is true that there are many people who lack the smiling face. I suppose some are not all that happy, others just aren’t smilers but are still happy, and there are those that show their true emotions, after all so many people do try to hide behind a smile. 2015 and 2016

2015 and 2016

Happy New Year!

May 2016 be a great year for you, filled with joy, success, love, health, and anything you might wish for!

As January is a month named after the god Janus, the god of beginnings and transitions, who looks into the future and the past (he’s got two faces…), I want to reflect a tiny bit on 2015. After all it did start putting up quarterly reports, you can find the last one here. This time around I won’t talk about my work performance, just because I have not done my accounting yet, and I would go on moaning that one of my professional clients has not payed me, the payment was due on the 31st of October… Continue reading “2015 and 2016”

looking back and looking ahead

Today, I am meant to publish a book review, but the book I considered reviewing (for weeks now) just leaves me without inspiration, and I read it 3 times in the last 15 years! So I am skipping the book review for now and am using today to share the quarter’s stats and some goals when it comes to writing, blogging, and working. I also figured that this way I will not hijack tomorrow’s coffee post.

It seems to be a popular sport to share quarterly blog stats on a monthly or quarterly basis. I am used to sharing stats of a different nature with the authorities every quater, because I am freelance German teacher (I sometimes teach English too).

Looking Back

Quarterly Blog Performance (3rd quarter 2015)
Total views: 1807, my best month for my blog so has been September with 717 views
Unique visitors since beginning of blog: 985
Visitors in September: 170 – I am 13 visitors short of my best month which was Mai
I joined twitter in September, which coincided with posting about my favourite blogs and a Weekend Coffee Share and thus translated into a sudden spike in views. Once I joined twitter, my parents discovered my blog (I am a bit shy when it comes to sharing my blog people who I know…), and now more and more members of my family, close and a bit more distant started to read.

Quarterly Work Performance
Ah shouldn’t even mention this, in my line of work Summer is bad for business… But things have been picking up since the beginning of September. I even did a three hour intense course of English for the first time in almost 2 years, but the pay will come later, so it doesn’t count statistically speaking.

Quarterly Writing Performance
Can I hide somewhere? Ok it is not that bad, but I am so far away from my goals. Why not check out my blog battle posts?
I would also like to draw your attention to a guest post I recently did on Ula’s blog, Confessions of a Broccoli Addict. I shared a special memory of my grandmother.

Looking Ahead

Blogging Goals
Increase the number of views and visitors. Interact with my followers, and commenters. Try to be more regular in posting. Fridays?!! I have something that resembles roughly a schedule. But what counts most is quality posts, rather than a post a day with bad quality. If I can churn out a post per day in good quality well then that will be bonus.
I also have to organise my categories, tags etc.
The idea of getting my own domain is also getting more and more present.

Work Goals
Finish the year positively. I’d like just a few more clients and work. I would like to work between 10 and 15 hours per week (that’s only 2 or 3 hours per day if I work 5 days, so is doable in terms of organisation).  I am seriously thinking about online teaching, but am not sure how to go on about it.

Writing Goals
I have joined in the #OctWritingChallenge and thus challenge myself to write at least 500 words per day. I think I’ll join it again in November and December. I am even considering joining #NaNoWriMo, but at the moment I am still a bit scared.
And then there are all of those posts that I want to write, that I have mentioned here and there, they will help boost the word count.

Reading Goals
I want to read a bit more. Books and blogs. I have some free ebooks on my phone that beg for a read and a review, and some paperbacks that are being read too. S gave me a big book on the philosophy of time, so that I can research the notion of time for my creative work.

Have a great October, enjoy Autumn! Have a great fourth quarter of 2015!

Do you have any goals for the 3 last months of 2015? Are you part of #OctWritingChallenge or planning on joining #NaNoWriMo?
Now that I am on twitter, why not follow me there too? You can find me under @SolveigJW
