The Scent of Roses
When my parents got married almost 24 years ago my mom had a beautiful bridal bouquet. The roses were vivid in colour, red, pink, yellow. The colours were strong, not the faint pastel tones one is used to for weddings. My mother was not wearing white either, she wore a black dress with a light pink blazer. Z is for Zoned-Out
Last night I zoned-out again. I was sitting on the carpet no longer completely present, no longer completely realising what was going on around me. S called me back to what was going on.
I think that zoning-out is something that happens, to everyone. It happens mostly at the end of a long day, during a stressful time, or when there is too much to overcome. V is for V
When I speak English I have a very strange accent. A mixture of American and British English depending on the words spoken and the people I talk to.
When I moved to France and came back to the USA to visit a year later, everyone said that I had a British accent, I really don’t think that I did, it was just different than what I had before leaving. I have no idea when I first started to be drawn to teaching. Every time that I had a good teacher I enjoyed their lessons and absorbed everything like a sponge. They showed me that teaching is not only a job, that it is a “calling”, that it can be done with passion, and that you can always learn something new in the process. They taught me not only what they were meant to teach, no they taught me more, often times to go further. Continue reading “T is for Teaching #AtoZChallenge”
S is for Secret
Many many years ago, our next door neighbour came to see my mother to share a secret with her. I found my conversation with my mum interrupted so that our neighbour could share what weighed her heart. She said that it would be better if I left the room, because she was going to share a secret with my mom. I did not want to leave, this was not a good friend of my mother’s, my mother was good friends with her girlfriend. For some reason my mom did not think that it was necessary for me to leave either, she did not join in on our neighbour’s request. Of course I would have left the adults alone if I had been asked by my mother, but I surely would have eavesdropped from the top of the stairs… Continue reading “S is for Secret #AtoZChallenge”
