All is quiet.
The noise of the day has finally ceased. The house is no longer shaking from the demolition hammers and drills used need door.
The kids are sleeping. A sniffle and a snore can be heard from time to time.
My ears concentrate on a lovely sound. The ticking of a mechanical pocket watch. It seems alive. The other day we hung it on a nail, it’s small but the numbers are easily read, from a distance I can tell what time it is. As I listen to the ticking of this watch my eyes are attracted to it. The heart is strong, it makes its body move like a small pendulum.
All is quiet, I listen to the ticking of the watch. To the beating of the mechanical heart, there to give me the time.
What time is it?
Let me see.
Hi Solveig. It’s great to see you! I hope you can find more quiet moments.

It’s a first of many 🙂 I have been quiet in the blog world, as things have not been too quiet.
I hope you are well, I will try to hop over to your blog in the days to come 🙂

It sounds like it has been anything but quite there. Besides the demolition hammers and drills you mention, you also said “kids”, plural. I think you hinted about it on some of your last blog posts. Congratulations on the new member of your family!

It is good to see you back Solveig. There has been an incredible amount of trauma in England and France. I hope you are doing well.
When I volunteer in Poulsbo’s Historic Maritime Museum, we have a clock that chimes the hour. I LOVE listening for the chime. Enjoy your new clock, and I hope all is well with you.

I think you have read that I have been caregiving for my husband for over a year. He is doing better, but will never be “well” again. We moved to a small apartment. I am trying to find my fun and imagination again. Otherwise, I’m doing well. So like you and Gulara, I have rarely posted anything on my blog. I need some impetus or “food for thought” or SOMETHING! 😉

This is beautiful. I love the quiet ticking of a mechanical clock, too. It’s a very reassuring sound. 🙂
