E is for Energy
Where is your energy? I am sure it is somewhere inside you, even if today you feel weak, drained, if you have the feeling you lack motivation or creativity. You energy is inside you! Close your eyes, take a deep breath and try to find that energy!
Over years, I was always lacking energy. Mostly it was physical energy that was missing. For some strange reason it was fainting in a supermarket (I had very very bad nausea and had a hard time drinking and eating in the beginning) during my pregnancy was what finally gave my physical energy a boost. I have never had so much physical strength before, as I have since being a mother. Sometimes I lacked the energy to get up, to live properly, to be creative, to be myself.
With this blog I started to make use of my creative energy, channel it and use it to create, to be organised, to define my priorities, the creative and those that aren’t. Writing over the past year, has helped me and still helps me cope with my mother’s illness and her recent death. Lately, carrying my mother’s message in my heart, I am letting that creative energy be a priority.
But when it comes to creative energy there is a fellow blogger who I have to thank. When Gulara Vincent asked me to be a guest for her series The Story Behind the Story, I shone light on the reasons behind why I write, and I felt my energies liberated.
Elie the empathic elephant enjoys eating everything elaborated by Edmund in Engadin.
During the month of April, I am participating in the A to Z Challenge, my theme is authenticity and eclecticism, which in my book go hand in hand.

Energy can be an elusive thing! I am sorry to hear of the passing of your mother but so very glad that writing has helped.

Thank you Lucy, writing does seem to help with the heeling process. But it will take a long time for the pain to vanish, if it ever does.

Where is your energy? I was asking myself that very question this morning, but fortunately for me, coffee to the rescue! Good job, and another good post!

Ah, I am not a coffee drinker at all, so that won’t be an energising solution for me…

Energy is deceiving. When you think you’re spent, there’s always just a bit more. How else would mother’s with sick kids function? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Solveig,
Great topic. I get much of my energy from having a strong sense of purpose…and a coffee first thing. I get that sense of purpose from my family, dogs, my writing and from a desire to help others who are experiencing adversity. I can’t always help in hands on ways but try to do that through my writing.
I also need naps during the day but could be going to bed a lot earlier.

I do take naps a few times a week, the other day I did take a short nap at 10pm when I fell asleep next to my daughter… They do help get the energy jauge filled up again.

I love it when I feel energy traveling through my body and mind. For me both are linked and we must accept that no day is similar to the previous or the next. So I take advantage of the energy-filled days, knowing that the reservoir isn’t bottomless. I find physical activity very helpful to keep my energy level at the right level. And I felt always filled with energy with my kids, although we shouldn’t take stress for energy and be careful not to overdo, sometimes that I found hard with small children.
Enjoy your day, Solveig! And the challenge too.

This is the second energy post I’ve seen today – similar posts, yet at the same time very different.
I love the picture you chose to illustrate this. I see both calm/little energy at the bottom, and crazy energy throughout (the kind of energy I wish I had!).

Just like you, I’ve discovered my energy after feeling low for a long span, in writing my blog. It makes me feel liberated, light, alive and awesome in one go.
Best wishes for the A to Z challenge 🙂
