This is one of my favourite photographs. It is going to be six years old in November, and even though I did not have a look at it in a very long time, I always managed to visualise it quite clearly.
During my Erasmus exchange in Krakow, Poland from September 2009 to February 2010, I always had my camera with me. It still exists, but does it work? I don’t know. Back then it was already an old digital camera, but the quality of the photos was satisfying enough for my needs.
This photograph, tells so many stories, is right in imagery. And then again, only show something very simple. Two old ladies on their way home from grocery shopping. I am longing to use it as a prompt, to come up with a story. But for now it is just a photograph.
I tool this photo next to Wawel Castle, on my way home, maybe from a lesson, that I do not remember. I just remember that I saw those two ladies and knew that I should capture the sight. I am happy to finally have the occasion to share it!

Ula nominated me as she posted a picture of Versailles and saw it fit for me to take up the challenge as I live in France. In return I decided to post a photo that I took in Poland, the country where Ula currently lives. And well Gulara’s nomination is linked to a different theme.
I would like to nominate my blogging friend Lrod, who always posts beautiful pictures, but has been a bit quiet lately, and this might be a good way to get back into the mood 🙂
The rules of the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge are:

2) Attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or a short paragraph. It’s entirely up to the individual.

It’s a great photo with lots of mood. It makes me miss Krakow. I may go there for a few days this fall. The novel I’m currently working on is set there and I need to feel some Krakow energy to get setting right.

You should go there. You mentioned it in your newsletter, I was automatically curious to find out more, maybe because the blurb did remind me a bit of my time there…
Krakow is the place where I fell in love, and well I have not been back since February 2009. Maybe this September we will go, if we can find tickets and accommodation that are affordable.

I may go in September. It depends on my husband’s work schedule. I love Krakow. It seems the right place to set a novel.
Maybe if we end up there at the same time, we could meet for coffee or something. I know chances are slim, but who knows.

I love pics of people doing regular things. It always makes me wonder what they are thinking or talking about. I like that element of the unknown.

Thank you. I have looked through some old photographs I took during my stay in Krakow, and many of them seem to feature people on benches or walking somewhere. But this was the one that really marked me.

Krakow, such a beautiful city and steeped in history. Visited a couple of years ago and loved the place, wonderful eating places in the Jewish quarter.

I know Richard Ankers. Erasmus exchange? A philosopher? I am also interested in photography and have blogged about it several times. I took WordPress’s Photo101 but knew a great deal already since I’m the yearbook teacher. I didn’t have time to pursue it. I am also interested in history since I teach Word History.
