If we were having coffee – 23 May 2015

If we were having coffee, I’d offer you a glass of water, it is quite warm here, so I am sure you’ll enjoy it. I’d tell you that once again I am a bit short on time for this post, but then writing posts quickly is turning into a sport.

I have had quite a nice week. On Tuesday we went out to dinner with my dad to Schwart’s Deli. Little one was the only Kid around, and she was so nice, I think she got some hormones working, as usual. Work wise I have had a few ore lessons to teach, which is always great. Last weekend I asked you if I should take Sunday off or not, well I decided against working and had a nice family day. The weather has been a bit strange over the last few days, lots of rain and the occasional hail. But now, as I am waiting for my second student of the day to arrive, it is of course beautiful and warm outside. But do not worry, before I sat down for this glass of water with you, I made sure to go to the park and enjoy the amazing day.

This week I wasn’t the most active blogger out there, I guess that I was too busy reading the book From Cornflakes to Eternity by S.D. Gates, which I reviewed Friday, and well my muse wasn’t with me as much as I would have liked. Still on Thursday I tried myself at writing some timed flash fiction, so not just the length but also the time was a bit of a flash. I gave myself 10 minutes of time, and I am quite satisfied with the outcome.

Monday is a public holiday, Pentecost, so that means that I’ll be working, because school is out. Many people will be working on Monday as it is solitary week, meaning that employees go to work on a holiday and do not get payed for it, their salary is used to make sure that places such as hospitals and retirement homes are staffed correctly during the hot months.

In the week to come, I will try to get a bit more blogging and visiting done, because I will most likely be away in an internet free world for the first 10 days of June…

I would of course ask you how your week has been, if you have any plans for the weekend. And then I would invite you to join me to go over to Diana’s blog Part Time Monster and check out the other coffee shares.

Have a great weekend and week, Solveig

  1. We are in our Memorial Day Weekend here – that is really the holiday that heralds the summer in. The kids are almost out of school and everyone is scrambling to put their summer plans in order. I have a three day weekend, which I am very excited about. I tried to get up and go to work, and realized it was Saturday – so now I am sitting on the patio enjoying the sun streaming through the trees, listening to the Mourning Doves and watching the puppies chase that ever elusive squirrel. I love Saturdays. Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Enjoy your long weekend! You need some time off if you are ready to go to work on a day off. Enjoy your day which is younger than mine. I hope you have your summer plans set so that they won’t put you through a stressful period.
I will try to make the most of my 3 day weekend which in my case is only one day (tomorrow) but then again I have weekends during the week and can’t complain about my workload.

  2. I feel you on the writing blog posts becoming a sport. On the plus side, I’m getting faster! I think I was the slowest blogger in history when I began (6 hours per post, usually). I’m down to 2 or 3 hours. Still probably too long, but oh well. Enjoy your holiday Monday. Canada’s holiday was last weekend. Though as a writer, is there ever anything such as a true day off?

    1. Wow 6 hours that sure is something… You must be really motivated to blog.
Now that I have started to write again the days that are off, I find myself taking mental notes all the time. But I am not sure if I can consider myself a writer just yet.

    1. I am not sure if more free time makes us more productive, this is something I have been thinking about a lot lately.
You too have a great weekend and week, I am looking forward to more of your writing. 🙂

  3. We’ve got a three day weekend here too. I’m hoping to get some writing done once the kids were in bed but mainly I’m looking forward to recharging my batteries. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  4. I’m slowly getting back to blogging. I started the year out posting every day then when I got sick at the end of March, that streak ended. I’m hoping to get back to blogging at least four times a week by mid June. And if things work well, back to every day by the end of July. Crossing my fingers. Enjoy your weekend, recharging your batteries, writing, or whatever ends up happening!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, I had planned to blog quite a bit before leaving on holiday, but sometimes life decides otherwise… I do see that being away from the blogosphere does happen to many of us… Good luck with getting back to the writing. And I hope that you’ll stay healthy.
I haven’t had he chance to truly write since this coffee post 😦

  5. You seem to be balancing things really well 🙂 It’s good to spend time with family, with friends and a trip to the park is always a bonus! I enjoyed the piece of flash fiction. It was a great idea to set yourself a goal, because sometimes the words don’t come and we get behind. I’m really behind this weekend…on everything! But it was great to stop by for a visit with you. Happy writing. Enjoy the holiday 🙂

    1. Ah it’s not so remote after all… (Well on Sunday and Monday I did go to a place where the Internet on my phone almost did not exist and where the Internet came via satellite…)
But I ended up not blogging once I posted his coffee post.

  6. One of the things I really like about coffee posts is how they usually just seem to flow—a time to get out the things I want to talk about that don’t fit my other blog entries and to just chat. Glad you could get some fast writing done to join us today. 🙂

    1. I am happy that I managed to join on the 23rd of May. I haven’t managed to do so last Saturday (or post since then either) as my priorities had been changed completely. I’ll hopefully be back to blogging and coffee sharing on a more regular basis by mid June.
I agree your coffee shares are a great place for putting the other things.

      1. Yeah, I think we can all relate to that. I managed to miss two posts this week because it’s been a crazy work and family week, and life just happens.

  7. Hi Solveig, don’t be too hard on yourself for quick or infrequent posts. We all have lulls with writing and sometimes life (and hail storms) can distract us.Glad you found some time for a quick glass of water anyway. 🙂 Shelah

    1. Thank you. Well now my blogging frequency has dropped to zero, but I’ll be back 🙂 lately life has changed the priorities and numbed my creativity.

  8. Oh how I wish I could churn some flash fiction our. One day I’ll summon up the courage to write and post one. Enjoy your down time.
